How I ended up in this business: After nine years as a special agent in the military, and weeks of traveling, my family and I wanted to settle down near family and thought Lubbock would be the perfect place. So, we decided to bring a new and exciting concept here.
The one thing I enjoy most about my work: Meeting people and seeing how excited kids get when they get to pick their own popsicle.
My business philosophy is: Work hard, be honest and treat people fairly.
What are your goals in your business? To open a second successful location, and find partners in Midland/Odessa, Amarillo and San Angelo who want to bring pops to their city. We also care a lot about the community and started an initiative by selling water in our stores. We give back 100 percent of the proceeds to local non-profits. We love giving!
What Lubbockites might not know about Frios Gourmet Pops? We use organic dairy, organic fruit and organic cane sugar. We are not 100 percent organic, hence the Fruity Pebble and birthday cake pops.
The best advice I’ve ever received: Use your moral compass in every situation and don’t judge a book by its cover. I have met some great people in my life from all different countries. Some might not look like me or talk like me, but we are all human.
The person I most admire is: My wife! Her heart is so big and she cares so much for people. Watching her love on kids and how she raises our kids is such a joy to watch.
My family: My wife Meredith, my son Carter, 6, and my daughter Ella, 4.
If I could be anything, I’d be: I was already a special agent for nine years and that was my biggest goal. So I’d say I’m doing exactly what I want to be doing.
I wish I knew how to: Help more people in need.
If I could change one thing about Lubbock, it would be: I would change nothing. Great people, schools and churches! Best kept secret in the nation.
